Integrated Protection Systems Has Solutions in Oil Spill Cleanup
Beaches along the Gulf of Mexico are in danger of being
destroyed by the oil slick that is coming from BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil rig, which exploded in April 2010, killing 11 people. Frustration
and anger has built over the possibility of beaches being ruined, causing an
economic disaster for those who depend upon open, clean beaches to attract
tourists. Fishermen who also live along the Gulf depend upon the marine life
for their livelihood. The oil spill cleanup is expected to take years to
restore the beaches to their former glory. However, Integrated Protection
Systems (IPS) is offering a solution that is already working in Dauphin Island,
AL.
Using HESCO® Concertainer® Units
and Enviro-Armour Solutions, IPS can quickly install a
protective barrier that will help in the oil spill cleanup effort. The HESCO® Concertaine® unit is a cellular structure that uses a
welded mesh framework and geotextile lining. They can become a wall of strength
and structural integrity once assembled. Combined with Enviro-Armour,
the oil is transformed into a cohesive rubber-like material on contact
resulting in an easier oil spill clean up.
There are many benefits to using HESCO Concertainers®,
which are also use in military combat. The basket containers help with flood
control, storm protection, dune and beach rebuilding, and most importantly, oil
spill clean up. In as little as 20 minutes and using
only two men, the units can be installed. Normally, with about 1,500 sandbags,
it would take about seven hours and require about 10 men to complete the job.
The oil slick is coming fast onshore, so time is of the essence. With this
past-working method, IPS can install it in time to combat the oil spill. IPS
uses Sterling Building Specialist (SBS) as their preferred installation
company. SBS has proven to be environmentally sensitive and uses the basket
containers effectively in beach restoration.
We have the experience it takes to build a barrier of
protection that will assist in the oil clean up related to the Deepwater Horizon disaster. As millions watch oil protrude
from the leak at a rate of 1,470,000 gallons a day, there is reason to be
concerned. However, we have the ability to provide protection for your beaches
that will benefit you economically as well as environmentally. Do not delay in
finding solutions – contact us today for reliable assistance for the oil spill
cleanup. For more information, call 800-605-6586 or email installation@bp-oil-spills.com.

Featured Article: What to Do for Oil Spill Cleanup
[Posted on Sept. 1]
An oil or chemical spill in the Gulf of Mexico can put wildlife and beaches in serious danger. Environmentalists have said that the damage caused by such a spill would affect the ecology of the wildlife and waters for decades, maybe longer. Also, business owners will suffer as well because people will stay away in fear of being poisoned by the oil. While the waters may repair themselves over time, the losses felt could affect a large number of people and animals for many years into the future. For example, Prince William Sound, the site of the Exxon Valdez disaster in 1989, is still feeling the effects of that oil spill, more than 20 years after it happened. However, there are some new inventions that can help protect beaches and make oil spill cleanup easier than it has been in the past.
One thing that provides a good beach barrier is the deployment of HESCO® Concertainer® units. These units are made with a geotextile lining that is heavy-duty, permeable and made of a polypropylene fabric. They are available in either green or sand color, so they can blend in with whatever the landscape looks like. They also have a cellular structure with a welded mesh framework. Using joining pins, they can form a wall that can stretch for miles long beaches and act like a wall against oil or chemical spills that try to infiltrate the beaches. The units are great weapons against oil and chemical spills and they can be assembled within a short period of time. Within 20 minutes, a single tier, or 30-foot section, can be joined together and filled with material by two people. It takes about seven hours to place down 1,500 flood sandbags and with oil already onshore in some places, there is hardly any time to waste. The HESCO® units are cost effective and save time, which is important during an oil spill cleanup. They can also be used for protection against floods and beach erosion.
One oil spill cleanup company that has done its part to help is Integrated Protection Systems (IPS). IPS uses the deployment of the HESCO® Concertainer® units and even applies Enviro Armour™ to the mix to make them more effective. The agent turns oil into a solid that is easier to dispose of and reuse as a raw material.
